Introducing The Gold Squad 2018
In preparation for the upcoming 2018-2019 swim season, the coaches have been working together on how to best meet the needs for all of our club swimmers.
The elimination of the BASA National Training Squad in the last 12 months resulted in Harbour Club introducing morning sessions and expanding our land training for many of our competitive swimmers. As more and more of our swimmers achieve that standard, enjoy significant improvement and demonstrate the interest and capability of competing on an international level, we see the need to further refine and formalize this programme. Accordingly, our next step is to introduce the Gold Squad commencing in September 2018.
The Gold Squad will be available to those 11 and over swimmers who have achieved an A time in an event 100m or longer, or 2 x 50’s in their respective age group. For 10 and under’s there will be an introduction to the program for swimmers with an A time. In addition to slightly modified current Club training sessions, swimmers who participate will be required to attend three additional morning sessions, training camps and international meets that will be agreed for the season. Our supplementary performance programme will include goal setting, log book completion and additional communication between swimmers, parents and coaches.
Participation in the Gold Squad will require a high level of commitment from both swimmers and parents in order for the swimmers to realize the maximum benefit as they work toward and attain their goals. The training sessions offered through the Gold Squad will be designed to challenge swimmers both physically and mentally. One hundred percent effort, focus and attendance from all participants is essential in order to achieve individual swimmer and program success.
A letter shall be sent to those who are eligible or those who are close to obtaining their A time before the end of this season inviting them to attend an information session next week Friday evening. May 11 at 6:00 pm. During the meeting we will provide further detail on the programme structure, commitment and expectations and answer any questions you may have.
Our coaching staff is excited about the 2018-2019 season and looking forward to another successful year!
