Harbour Swim Club members make a splash at CARIFTA Aquatics in Nassau

Harbour swimmers shone as The Bermuda Swim Team showcased its prowess on the international stage with a stunning display of talent and determination at the recent CARIFTA Aquatics Championships. Held in Nassau, Bahamas, the prestigious event brought together some of the finest young swimmers from across the Caribbean region.

Bermuda’s contingent arrived with high hopes and left an indelible mark, clinching a total of 24 medals and earning admiration for their remarkable performances. Led by National Coaches Ben Smith and our own Coach Shona Palmer, the Bermuda team demonstrated exceptional skill, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

In the pool, Harbour swimmers delivered standout performances, claiming multiple medals across various events. The success was not limited to individual events, as Bermuda’s relay teams also excelled, showcasing their unity and swimming skills.

Conner Hupman (14) secured a medal in every individual event that he was entered in, achieving a total of seven medals including  ?? Golds.

Other Harbour swimmers also brought home medals in individual races and relays with Katherine “KitKat” Wheddon (14) achieving two Silver Medals and Rory Shepherd (12) three Bronze Medals in their first appearances at CARIFTA.

Reflecting on the Harbour swimmers’ achievements, Coach Shona expressed immense pride in their performances, highlighting their dedication and hard work leading up to the games. She emphasized the importance of teamwork and credited all the coaches for guiding the athletes to success.

The Bermuda Swim Team’s triumph at the CARIFTA Games serves as a testament to the island’s growing prominence in the world of swimming. Their achievements not only bring glory to Bermuda but also inspire aspiring young swimmers to pursue their dreams with passion and determination.

When the team returned home, they were greeted with cheers and accolades from proud supporters, reporters and Government Ministers who eagerly await their next conquest on the international stage. With their sights set on future competitions, Harbour swimmers are poised to continue making waves and etching their names in Bermuda’s athletic records.
